Steering Committee
From RTEMSWiki
The steering committee was founded in August 2001 with the intent of broadening the leadership of RTEMS from that of a benevelonent dictatorship. The formation of the Steering Committee only formally reflected a standing practice OAR Corporation had of asking key members of the RTEMS Community for advice. Its primary purpose is to make major decisions in the best interests of the RTEMS Project and to ensure that the project adheres to its fundamental principles found in the project's mission statement.
Generally speaking, committee members were chosen because of their long standing involvement in the RTEMS community and significant contributions. Most of the initial Steering Committee members have been RTEMS users since the first widely distributed versions of RTEMS.
