RDBG Daemon

Does anyone know if the RDBG stuff works still? It's described at
     http://www.rtems.com/onlinedocs/releases/rtemsdocs-4.6.2/share/rtems/html/rtems_gdb/index.html

That document claims it only works with a patched GDB 4.17. It
definately doesn't work with GDB 5.2. I briefly looked for the
patch for gdb-4.17 on the ftp site, but couldn't find it.
