can not generate sample programs (fwd)

Hi, my name Jae-Chul Moon
I have trouble with compile new BSP for a i960 based board.
In making the hello.exe file, "undefined reference to 'end'" error
I browsed all source file, but 'int end' is only defined as extern
variable in bspstart.c file.
what means 'end' variable?. who defines the int end?
I also tried to compile BSP for cvme961, but It did not generate same
